2011 HAND Housing Achievement Award Winners

Congratulations to the following winners of the 20th annual HAND Housing Achievement Awards. HAND presents the awards each year to recognize best practices in affordable housing projects, programs and organizations in the greater Washington region during the preceding year. And the winners are:

Developer of the Year: Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing

Best Small Affordable Housing Project: Restoration Gardens, Homes for America/AIRS/Empire Homes

Best Large Affordable Housing Project: The Summit at St. Martin's Apartments, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, nominated by Grimm+Parker Architects

Best Community Life Program: Homes for America, Heritage Park Resident Services Program

Best Government Initiative: Fairfax County, Fairfax-Falls Church Office to Prevent and End Homelessness, nominated by Conrad Egan

Innovation Award: NHT/Enterprise Preservation Corporation, Poppleton II

Virginia Peters Nonprofit Friend of the Year: Rev. Msgr. Ralph J. Kuehner, nominated by Victory Housing

Best Housing Partner: The Michael Group, nominated by Bon Secours Foundation of Maryland

President's Choice Award: Virginia State Senator Mary Margaret Whipple
