Invite Your Members of Congress To Learn More About HOME!

The HOME Coalition will release its new report, “Building HOME: The HOME Investment Partnerships Program’s Impact on America’s Families and Communities,” at a Congressional Briefing for members of Congress and their staff.

All organizations are encouraged to (1) share this invitation with your members of Congress and (2) ask them to attend the HOME Coalition Congressional Briefing on October 28th from 2 – 3 p.m. in the Congressional Visitors Center Room SVC 203.

The first-of-its-kind report analyzes the program’s economic impact in all 50 states–including job creation and local economic activity–and features more than 100 HOME Success Stories from communities across the nation. The briefing will also include practitioners who will discuss how HOME is used to attract significant public and private resources to build and preserve affordable homes locally.

In addition, please share the National HOME Sign-On Letter with as many local organizations, government officials, and advocates as possible. The deadline to sign on is November 9th. Congress is beginning to negotiate a possible budget deal, so it is critical that HOME supporters make their voice heard. To see which organizations have already signed on, check out the current list of 1,500 signers.

For additional resources, check out the HOME Coalition website and information on the #SaveHOME campaign.

Anna Hargrave Appointed New Executive Director of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region in Montgomery County

October 14, 2015
October 14, 2015

The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region announced that Anna Hargrave, currently serving as Interim Executive Director and previously as Senior Philanthropic Services Officer, has been appointed the new Executive Director of the Montgomery County office.

Anna joined The Community Foundation staff in February, 2006. Through her previous experience at the Office of the Montgomery County Executive, Montgomery Youth Works, and the Jewish Social Service Agency, Anna came to the Foundation well-versed in program management, community outreach, and project development. She recently completed her service on the Board of Directors for Leadership Montgomery, an organization which brings together current and emerging leaders interested in making Montgomery County a better place to live and work.  A graduate of Kenyon College, Anna earned her BA in Spanish Area Studies and Drama.

In her nine years at The Community Foundation, she has worn many hats. She spearheaded planning for the annual Celebration of Giving event as well as numerous learning and networking opportunities for donors.  Most recently, this included the creation of the Foundation’s Taste of Philanthropy series in Montgomery County, which enables donors and philanthropic friends to connect with each other, learn about the community, and share their own ideas for making a deeper impact.  She also has led the Sharing Montgomery grant process, which engages donors in vetting 50+ high-impact organizations serving the County’s low-income neighbors. Most importantly, Anna has worked 1:1 with hundreds of Montgomery County donors to provide them with the tools, resources, and support needed for them to give to all the causes they care about deeply, here and around the world.

“Anna is a strong, effective, and generous leader,” said Bruce McNamer, President & CEO of The Community Foundation. “She has the perfect combination of on-the-ground experience and strategic vision that we need to support and grow our work in Montgomery County. I join the Board and my colleagues in congratulating her on this appointment and look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”

“It is always rewarding to promote from within. Anna has been a key member of the Foundation’s team and will continue to advance The Community Foundation in Montgomery County to a bigger and better place,” said Thomas D. Murphy, Chair of the Montgomery County Advisory Board and Retired President of EagleBank.
