The Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is pleased to announce the availability of up to $12 million* in local and federal funds for the development of affordable housing in Fairfax County. The available funding is provided to further the goals of the FY 2016 Housing Blueprint, consistent with the strategies outlined in Fairfax County’s Strategic Plan for Economic Success.
There are two separate applications:
- Multifamily Projects (six or more units) will apply via the Fairfax County Affordable Housing Partnership Program (http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/rha/ahpp.htm). Click here for more information. Multifamily projects are expected to use combination with other sources such as private equity and financing and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) to successfully complete proposed projects. Projects proposing to use federal funds must also submit a CDBG/HOME application, which is available here. Applications for projects proposing to use only local funds, or a combination of local and federal funds, are due no later than 4:00 p.m. on September 1st, 2015.
- Scattered Site Projects will apply utilizing the application materials available here. Scoring preference will be given to projects serving seniors, the homeless, persons with disabilities, and other special needs populations as defined by the FY 2016 Housing Blueprint with extremely low incomes (30 percent of Area Median Income and below). Projects serving senior/homeless and/or persons with disabilities with extremely low incomes may be considered for 100 percent funding. Applications for projects proposing to use only federal funds are due no later than 4:00 p.m. on October 1st, 2015.
