HIP Celebrates 80th ‘HIP Home’ Sold
Housing Initiative Partnership is celebrating its 80th “HIP Home” renovated and sold during July, and has another four homes in the rehab pipeline.
HIP started purchasing, rehabilitating and selling single family homes to low-to-moderate income first-time buyers in Prince Georges County in 1998. These previously vacant and dilapidated properties in inner-Beltway neighborhoods all receive new kitchens, bathrooms, porches with brightly colored front and back doors, fencing and a variety of other green, energy-efficient features.
All buyers of HIP Homes are required to complete one-on-one pre-purchase counseling and intensive financial capability coaching to ensure they are fully prepared to embrace the challenges and responsibilities that come with homeownership.
