Continuing the tradition of HAND’s Annual Meeting, we welcomed HAND members and friends to the 32nd Annual HAND Honors for an evening of inspiration, connection and celebration. Recognizing the need for our members to have ample networking and relationship building opportunities, the new format of our annual fundraiser prioritized the time and space needed to cultivate partnerships and celebrate the accomplishments of affordable housing
industry leaders.

The theme of this year’s event was We See You. We see the great obstacles that our communities face from day to day in the midst of unprecedented housing affordability and inventory challenges. We also see the work you are doing to build first-class homes that are affordable to our neighbors, the attention you put into your resident services programming and the impact of creating space for residents to thrive. Most of all, we see the incredible opportunities in front of us to work together towards a more equitable region.

The evening opened with a warm welcome from Heather Raspberry (Executive Director, HAND) and Winell Belfonte (President, HAND). President’s Choice Awardee, Secretary Marcia L. Fudge, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, delivered the evening’s keynote address which highlighted her state-of-the-art response to providing affordable housing and supportive services, and her dedication to prioritizing racial equity across the spectrum of housing. Her remarks were followed by the Housing Achievement Awards recognizing Wesley Housing, Victory Housing, Housing Initiative Partnership, and Christopher Earley for their outstanding contributions to the affordable housing and community development industry. Additionally, there was a presentation to the inaugural GenerationHAND Scholarship recipients, Destin Marshall and Toromo Funsho, who were acknowledged for their achievements. The award ceremony concluded with a special moment to hear from Hermon Weldegiorgis, the winner of the Children’s Essay Contest. After the program, members reconnected with friends and peers while enjoying live music from The Quincy Phillips Quartet, spirits, exquisite cuisine stations and more.
