ABOUT
For the past 40 years, Nixon Peabody’s Affordable Housing attorneys have been at the forefront of the industry and involved in the development of every major federal housing law, as well as a broad spectrum of federal housing regulatory and enforcement cases. We regularly represent nonprofit and for-profit developers in all matters pertaining to acquisition, new construction, preservation, and substantial rehabilitation of affordable housing projects, and we work extensively with HUD-assisted and HUD-insured properties, conventional property owners, lenders, brokers, and agents subject to other federal regulatory programs. We advise our nonprofit clients on the fiduciary responsibilities of directors and officers, and are often asked to participate in strategic planning on governance matters. We also provide analysis and advice on directors’ and officers’ liability insurance and liability matters generally. Additionally, we handle major IRS audits, executive compensation, and joint venture matters, and counsel on Form 990 and other disclosure obligations.
